Fire Blotter: Firefighters Respond to Porch Fire Near Kopachuck

On Dec. 10, an occupant of a duplex on Kopachuck Drive was alerted to popping noises. When he opened the front door to investigate, he found his porch on fire. He evacuated the home and alerted neighbors to assist as they tried to extinguish with a garden hose while calling 911. The cause of the fire is unknown and under investigation by the Pierce County Fire Marshal.

On Dec. 11, a 58-year-old woman was waiting at a stoplight at the intersection of Olympic Drive and Pt. Fosdick Drive, when she was struck from behind at a low speed. No airbags were deployed in either vehicle. After assessment, she reported of neck pain. She was transported to a nearby hospital to continue treatment.

On Dec. 12, a driver reported seeing a teenager dressed in shorts and T-shirt jump from the Fox Island Bridge. A search was made by watercraft and Pierce County Sheriff dive team, with no person found.
