Fire Blotter from April 9-15

Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One responded to an accident after a car rear-ended a school bus. Paramedics also treated a 16-year-old boy for self-inflicted wounds after a fight with his parents.

On April 9, a 90-year-old woman told paramedics that she was walking down a slight incline when she fell forward and struck her head on the road. Paramedics checked her vitals, cleaned and dressed the laceration on her forehead and transported the woman to the hospital for further evaluation.

On April 10, paramedics were called to evaluate self-inflicted wounds made by a 16-year-old boy after he had a fight with his parents. They cleaned and bandaged the wounds and transported the boy for further evaluation.

On April 11, firefighters responded to a report of an unattended outdoor fire on 41st Street Court. No one was attending the fire so they went to the home where the owner said he did not know he needed a permit. The fire was extinguished and the owner was told to call 851-3111 when he wanted to burn in the future. According to the fire department, all outdoor burning requires a verbal permit.

On April 12, FireComm dispatched paramedics after a hang up 911 call to evaluate a 55-year-old woman.  The crew was told that the same woman had called 911 for police just before this dispatch. After seeing the disarray at the occupant's home, hearing her story about being poisoned and talking with the family who rents the home to her, paramedics agreed to transport her to the hospital for further evaluation.

On April 13, the daughter of a woman who lives in Gig Harbor called 911 because while she was talking to her mother on the phone she heard a strange noise and then lost contact with her mother. Paramedics responded to her mother's home and found that she was fine. She said her cell phone battery had died, which prevented her from calling her daughter back.

On April 15, firefighters and paramedics were dispatched to a collision involving a school bus and a car. Upon arrival, the driver of the car that had rear-ended the bus was out of his car and was able to walk. The bus driver and the passengers were also uninjured.
