Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One assisted a man who lost consciousness at Costco, and paramedics searched a home to find a 90-year-old man sleeping inside.
On March 5, the 17-year-old driver of a mid-sized sedan told police that she was rear-ended by another car. The impact pushed her into the van in front of her and spun her car 360 degrees. She told paramedics that the only injury she knew she had was a cut to her left big toe after she self extricated from the her car. No other injuries were reported.
On March 6, the mother of a 1-year-old girl told paramedics that she had given her daughter a bite of fish and that her daughter had a reaction to the fish. The girl had red itchy blotches on her neck and face. Paramedics transported the girl to Mary Bridge Children’s hospital.
On March 7, a 37-year-old man told paramedics that the car in front of him stopped suddenly, and to avoid colliding into the car, he swerved and crashed into a ditch. Upon impact, a 2-by-6 piece of lumber from a fence came through his window. The man was transported to the hospital with a laceration and a possible fracture to his hand.

On March 8, a 63-year-old woman called 911 after feeling ill for several days and experiencing multiple episodes of loss of consciousness. She told paramedics that she was under a doctor’s care for other ailments and just thought that she had the flu. After an on scene evaluation, paramedics transported her to the hospital.
On March 9, paramedics responded to an automatic medical emergency alert to find the house dark and locked up. They were given a code to use by the dispatcher, and when they got inside, they found the house empty by way of a search except for one room. They forced their way into that room to find a 90-year-old man sleeping. He woke up and said he was fine. It appeared that he inadvertently activated his alarm while sleeping and did not need any assistance.

On March 10, a 78-year-old man walked into , went to the nearest wall and was seen sliding down the wall as he passed out. Paramedics found the man unconscious and in the care of a Tacoma Paramedic. The man’s heart was monitored and he was treated for low blood sugar. The man responded to the treatment and told paramedics that he was on his way to the food court because he knew he needed to eat. He was allowed to stay and eat once he regained full consciousness.
On March 11, firefighters were dispatched to a fire in the woods near the 5100 block of the Cromwell neighborhood. They arrived to find a fire that had spread to approximately 100 feet by 5 feet. The origin of the fire seemed to be an illegal burn. A neighbor to the area came out and told them that there used to be a pile of political signs stacked in the same area. They did not see anything that day until the firefighters arrived. The fire was extinguished.
