Fire Blotter: Head-on Collision on Fox Island, Natural Gas Leak From Cracked Pipe

On Oct. 16, a worker was injured at a residential jobsite resulting from a framed wall that fell onto him. He was transported to a local hospital with back and ankle pain.

On Oct. 17, a driver lost control of her vehicle attempting to park in front of Bartell Drugs. She was evaluated for minor injury at the scene and not transported at her request.

On Oct. 18, a neighbor on Island View Terrace reported hearing and smelling a natural gas leak from a home. Engine crew arrived and found a cracked gas pipe at the meter. Firefighters shut off the valve to stop the leak and waited until the gas

On Oct. 19, two small brush fires, about 1-by-1 in size, started when power lines fell to the ground and were arcing upon contact with the vegetation on State Game Road NW near Crescent Lake. Utility repair crews were already at the scene, the fires were extinguished and contained without further damage.

On Oct. 20, a vehicle crossed the centerline near Bella Bella Drive on Fox Island and struck an oncoming truck. The airbag in the car was deployed on impact. The driver reported of back pain and was transported to a hospital for further treatment. The driver was cited for speeding, said Pierce County Sheriff's spokesman Det. Ed Troyer. 

On Oct. 20, a malfunctioning door accidently locked a patron inside at a downtown business. A pry tool was used to open the door without damage allowing a safe exit.
