Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One was called after police used a Taser on a man. Paramedics also assisted a woman who had fractured her arm after falling during the night.

On May 6, responded to a 47-year-old female who was having an allergic reaction. She had hives, itching and tightening of her throat with shortness of breath. She had used her EPI pen. Medics treated and transported her to the hospital.

On May 7, paramedics were called to evaluate a 40-year-old male after police used a Taser on him. Officials stated that they had wrestled with the man who fell over a guard rail. The officers then used a Taser, once in the chest and then in the leg, to subdue him. Upon arrival, paramedics found the man in handcuffs in the back of a patrol car. He was alert and agitated and was not cooperating while the medic was trying to evaluate him. The police had the man stand outside the patrol car so the medic could measure his blood pressure and heart rate. He denied any pain or injuries, and the altercation did not appear to have caused the man any injury, according to paramedics. He was left in police custody.

On May 9, firefighters were called to an automatic heat detector alarm. When they arrived, they found a commercial building with an audible alarm sounding but no smoke or flame visible. They entered the building and turned off the alarm. They then searched the entire building with a special camera that detects heat. Firefighters found a vacuum pump that appeared to have overheated. They turned off and unplugged the unit and turned it over to maintenance personnel.

On May 11, paramedics were called to a 47-year-old-female who had been experiencing sharp lower back pain for about three weeks. That day, she said the pain intensified with movement, and she also was experiencing numbness and tingling in her legs and feet. The medic did an exam, treated and transported the patient to the hospital for further evaluation. 

On May 12, paramedics responded to a 65-year-old female who was extremely confused. She was unable to state where she was or the date and time. She was very anxious knowing that something was wrong. Paramedics started her on oxygen and her condition improved, but then she was taken off oxygen while preparing for transport and confusion increased. Medics put her back on oxygen and transported her to the hospital for further evaluation.

On May 12, paramedics responded to assist a 59-year-old woman who was living alone and had fallen during the night after tripping on her way to the bathroom. According to officials, it took her two hours to get to the phone. She then contacted her doctor who in turn called 911. Upon arrival, the woman was lying on the floor experiencing severe pain in her right arm. The medic treated and transported her to the hospital for a fracture to her arm.
