On Sept. 23, a female runner was knocked to the ground by a vehicle as she crossed a parking lot entrance. The vehicle had been stopped then suddenly lurched forward. She landed on her knee and requested to be evaluated. The medics placed some ice packs on her knee and offered to transport her to the hospital for further evaluation, but she refused.

On Sept. 23, a man cut his hand on some aluminum ducting at a local store. The employees held pressure on the wound and called 911. When medics arrived they continued to keep pressure on the wound and transported him to the hospital for further treatment.

On Sept. 25, a 16-year-old driver turned off the ignition while driving which caused the steering wheel to lock up. The vehicle then rolled onto the driver’s side. The driver was able to get out of the vehicle on his own and appeared to have no injuries. However, medics transported him to the hospital for evaluation because of his age, and his parents were not available at that time.

On Sept. 26, a citizen called to report a tree blocking the roadway at Rosedale and Lombard and also caught in the power lines and causing arching. Firefighters blocked off the road and called Peninsula Light. The firefighters assisted the Peninsula Light crew in removing the tree and clearing the roadway.

On Sept. 27, a woman who was prescribed pain killers was observed by her family as “not acting right”. Medics discovered that she had taken her pain medication as prescribed but then mixed up her pain medicine with vitamins causing an overdose. The crew transported her to the hospital for treatment.

On Sept. 28, medics responded to a woman who complained of a headache. After evaluation, Medics transported her to the hospital for a possible mini stroke.

On Sept. 28, medics responded to a woman who stated that she had been “cut off and hit” by another vehicle which caused her to run off the road and roll her vehicle. She complained of pain in her neck, elbow and hands. Medics transported her to the hospital for possible neck injury, a broken finger and minor cuts and bruises.

On Sept. 29, a woman backed her vehicle into a ditch after accidentally taking her sleep aid instead of another medication. She was not injured, but medics took her to the hospital for further evaluation due to the medication mix up.
