On Nov. 4, medics responded to a call for a 16-year-old male who experiencing a decreased level of consciousness and seizure like activity after smoking “Spice” (a synthetic incense that looks like marijuana). Medics found that he had an excessively rapid heart rate and they transported him to the hospital.

On Nov. 5, medics responded to a man who was feeling faint and dizzy. He said that the symptoms started after he had a “cold feeling” through his chest. The medic transported to the hospital for further evaluation.

On Nov. 6, firefighters were dispatched to an apartment building fire alarm activation. The crew found that the occupant had inadvertently turned on a burner on the stove that had a glass jar containing cereal sitting on it. When the jar broke the cereal contacted the burner and produced smoke setting off the smoke detector.

On Nov. 7, firefighters responded to a smoke alarm in a care facility. Upon arrival, the staff was evacuating patients from the wing where the smoke odor seemed to be centered. After investigation, the firefighters found that a belt on the HVAC unit was the source of the smoke. The crew shut down the system and called a repairman to fix the problem.

On Nov. 8, medics were called to a local for a woman who ran into a wall playing racquet ball. They transported her for a possible broken collarbone.

On Nov. 8, firefighters were called to an oven fire. The homeowner had put the fire out with a fire extinguisher, but the crew checked to make sure the fire was completely out. They found several burned medication bottles in the oven. The homeowner had put them in the oven to hide them from view and forgot that they were in there.

On Nov. 9, medics responded to an elderly woman who fell while trying to pull a sweater on over her head. They transported her to the hospital for a possible hip fracture.
