Update: Brush Fire in North Key Peninsula Approaching 30 Acres

Firefighters from Key Peninsula, Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One and the state Department of Natural Resources were among responders to the fire that was first reported Friday morning.

A wildfire that was first reported as a brush fire off 160th Street Kp North around 9 a.m. Friday had spread to nearly 30 acres by the afternoon.

According to The Tacoma News Tribune, it wasn't clear what initially sparked the fire though no structures were threatened.

Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One and South Kitsap Fire & Rescue also assisted with the call. South Kitsap responded with an engine, and Gig Harbor Fire sent a tender and a brush fire truck to the scene.

The Key Peninsula Fire Department responded to a brush fire located off 160th Street Kp North Friday morning around 9 a.m.

The grass fire was reported to be about half-acre in size. No homes in the area are threatened by the fire.

Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One and South Kitsap Fire & Rescue also assisted with the call. South Kitsap responded with an engine, and Gig Harbor Fire sent a tender and a brush fire truck to the scene.
