Free Boating Safety Equipment Inspections This Saturday

Gig Harbor Police will be offering boating safety equipment inspections for free this Saturday.

Spring into boating safety this Saturday as members of the Gig Harbor Police Marine Patrol will be available to provide free safety inspections for all boats. 

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the event on Saturday, May 11, will help the boating public make sure that they have the proper safety equipment for their boats. West Marine and Ship to Shore Marine Supply will be on hand to help you update your outdated equipment.  

Officers will also be able to answer questions about the Mandatory Boater Education Card.

This year, if you are 50 years or younger you are required to have a boater education card.

If your boat is on a trailer, just bring it to the Gig Harbor Civic Center between 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. A marine officer will complete a courtesy Boating Safety Inspection form with you and make sure that you have all the required equipment.

If your boat is moored at one of the local marinas, just call at 253-250-1781 and an officer will come to your boat to complete the Boating Safety Inspection form with you at the dock. 

Boats visiting Gig Harbor for the day are welcome to call us to complete a Boating Safety Inspection form on your boat. Just call and we will send an officer to you. 

Things that you will need: Identification, boat documents and all safety equipment that you would need if you were going out on the water.
