GHFMO to Hit the Streets for 'Fill the Boot' Fundraiser

Firefighters and medics of Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One will be raising money for Jerry's Kids and the Muscular Dystrophy Association this weekend.

will the hit the streets once again for its annual "Fill the Boot" fundraiser for Jerry's Kids and the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).

Gig Harbor firefighters and medics will be accepting donations at the Rosedale Street and Stinson Avenue intersection throughout the weekend.

According to Gig Harbor firefighter Bruce Brown, the crew raised $3,373 within 5 hours on Friday.

According to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, muscular dystrophies are a group of inherited diseases that involve muscle weakness and loss of muscle tissue, which get worse over time. There is currently no specific treatment to stop or reverse any form of muscular dystrophy.

Here’s the schedule for this weekend:

Friday, June 29: Noon to 5 p.m.

Saturday, June 30: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Sunday, July 1: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
