GHPD Blotter: Burglary at Retirement Community, Car Prowls and Thefts

Fraud/Theft: Sometime between Feb. 2 and 4, the victim's wallet was stolen from his apartment at Merrill Gardens, 3213 45th St. Ct. NW. The victim later discovered that two of the three debit cards were fraudulently used for a total of more than $1,000.

Vehicle Prowl: On Feb. 5, an unknown suspect(s) entered an unlocked vehicle at QFC and stole a briefcase that contained a laptop, tablet, sunglasses and pain medication.

DWLS/Arrest: On Feb. 7, police cited a 27-year-old man in the 6100 block of 38th Avenue NW for third-degree DWLS.

DWLS/Arrest: On Feb. 8, police cited a 22-year-old woman in the 1700 block of 24th Street NW for third-degree DWLS. Police also issued an infraction for no proof of insurance and expired vehicle license.

DWLS/Arrest: On Feb. 9, police cited a 53-year-old man in the 10600 block of Burnham Drive NW for third-degree DWLS.

Aggravated Assault/Arrest: On Feb. 9, police arrested a 17-year-old man at Forest Grove Apartments for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence. According to the police report, the teen got in an argument with his mother and hit and shoved her.

Residential Burglary: On Feb. 9, an unknown suspect(s) entered the victim's room at Merrill Gardens while she was sleeping and took several items including three keys, debit cards, pain pills, $60 in cash and her insurance card. The victim also noticed five rings and two watches were missing. The suspect fraudulently charged $335 to one of the debit cards.

Residential Burglary: Sometime between Feb. 9 and 10, an unknown suspect(s) entered the victim's home in the 4400 block of Harbor Country Drive and stole a laptop, television and flatware.

Warrant/Shoplifting/Arrest: On Feb. 9, police responded to Kohl's in reference to a shoplifting. A store employee caught 3 men stealing shirts and jewelry. They were arrested for third-degree theft. One of the men was also booked for an outstanding warrant for property destruction.

Vehicle Prowl: On Feb. 10, an unknown suspect(s) broke out the front passenger side window at St. John's Episcopal Church and stole cell phones, check books and sunglasses from the vehicle.

Burglary/Motor Vehicle Theft: Sometime between Feb. 9 and 10, an unknown suspect(s) stole a work truck, trailer and an excavator from Henderson Partners Construction at 11302 Burnham Dr. The vehicle was later recovered by Buckley Police. The Bonney Lake Police Department is processing the truck for evidence.

Motor Vehicle Theft/DWLS/Arrest: On Feb. 11, police stopped a 39-year-old male driver, who was driving a large RV without a license plate in the 5300 block of Pt. Fosdick Drive. He told police that he drove the RV from Seattle to Gig Harbor, then to Puyallup before returning to Gig Harbor. He was initially arrested for third-degree DWLS and traffic infraction for operating a vehicle without current registration and plate. Upon investigation, police discovered that the man turned out to be a salesman for Fife RV Center--not the general manager as he had stated during the interview. The man also did not have permission to drive the vehicle after delivering it to Gig Harbor. His case has been forwarded to the prosecutor for taking a motor vehicle without permission and third-degree DWLS. His infraction has been forwarded to the Gig Harbor prosecutor.
