GHPD Blotter: Teens Caught Smearing Oranges on Classmate's Car

April 4: Gig Harbor Police were dispatched to Gig Harbor High School in report of an assault that occurred on Monday, April 2. According to school officials, two 18-year-old female students were accused of smearing and squeezing orange juice onto another girl's car. The two were aware that the victim was severely allergic to oranges. There was another 17-year-old girl involved, but she claimed that she did not participate in the incident. The police department has forwarded the case to the Gig Harbor prosecutor for review of filing for 4th degree charges.

April 7: An unknown suspect(s) entered an unsecured duplex in the 6400 block of  Soundview Drive on April 6. The victim said the thief stole his son's 16 GB iPad 2.

April 7: Police arrested a 34-year-old man for fourth-degree assault and third-degree DWLS in the 5900 block of 28th Avenue NW.

April 8: Gig Harbor Police responded to an accident at 54th Avenue NW and 144th Street. A maroon colored truck that had been struck was sitting in the intersection, and a white pickup truck had crashed into an embankment. Police arrested the driver of the white truck for DUI.

April 9: Police were dispatched to a burglary at the cell tower site at 6302 112th St. NW. The cell site is shared by two different phone carriers, T-mobile and Verizon. After investigating, someone had cut or ripped out the copper cabling ground wires from their straps along with several copper ground bars. The estimated cost of replacement is about $2,800.

April 9: Police was flagged down by a male subject sitting in the parking lot of a at 6615 Wollochet Dr. The 55-year-old man had an open container of wine and had already taken several sips. He told the officer he wanted to go back to the mental institute in Olympia, where he had come from. According to the records, the man had a missing endangered person for history of mental illness issues. Police contacted the caregiver at his half-way house where he returned home.

April 10: Police arrested a woman in the 5100 block of Olympic Drive for DUI.

April 13: Police arrested a man on Harborview Drive near Stinson Avenue for DUI, third-degree DWLS 3 and ignition interlock violation.

April 13: Police arrested a 25-year-old man in the 4800 block of Bering Street NW for two outstanding warrants.

April 14: Police arrested a 33-year-old man in the 9500 block of Peacock Hill Avenue for an outstanding warrant out of Gig Harbor for $2,100 in reckless driving.

April 16: Police were dispatched to a report of shoplifting at . According to the store manager, the suspect stole two packs of Kool cigarettes and a box of Franzia wine. After viewing the surveillance video, police located the suspect at a home in the 16900 block of 140th Street Kpn. The woman surrendered the box wine, which was already opened, and a box of cigarettes. When police asked for the second box, she presented an empty box from her truck. The woman was cited for third-degree theft.

Why is the orange incident called an assault instead of attempted murder? anaphylaxis can kill.
