Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One Offering Free Health Screenings This Saturday

The free event takes place at the Headquarter's Station 50 on Bujacich Road.

Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One is hosting its 28th annual Health and Safety Expo this Saturday, March 9.

The event offers free health screening for all residents in the Gig Harbor area.  

“It is a way for us to express our appreciation to the citizens of Gig Harbor for their tremendous support over the years,” the fire department wrote on its Facebook page.

The following services will be offered at the free health screenings:

  • Basal metabolic rate
  • Body composition
  • Bone density
  • Cardiovascular step test
  • Carotid artery ultrasound
  • Cholesterol (no fasting necessary)
  • Grip Strength
  • Hearing
  • Podiatry (foot & ankle)
  • PSA (for men over age 50)
  • Skin cancer
  • Spinal exam & massage
  • Vision & glaucoma
  • Vitamin D
  • Women's clinical breast exams

Cascade Regional Bloodmobile will also be at the event. If you plan to give blood, be sure to eat a good breakfast. If you eat a good breakfast (not high in fat or sugar) it will not have a significant effect on your cholesterol, according to the Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One.
