Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One Receives Grant for Extrication Training

The $5,000.00 Safe Neighbors Grant goes toward equipment purchasing, instruction costs and training props.

“Crunch Time”, a 100% hands-on extrication class hosted by Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One has been awarded a Safe Neighbors Grant from State Farm Insurance. 

This is the sixth consecutive year “Crunch Time” has been awarded this grant. The $5,000.00 Safe Neighbors Grant goes toward equipment purchasing, instruction costs and training props.

Over the past eight years, State farm Insurance has also donated more than ninety (90) totaled vehicles to “Crunch Time” including a 2004 Toyota Prius that has been utilized as a cut-a-way prop showing the workings and components of a hybrid vehicle. 

 “Crunch Time” 2012 is being held September 15-16, 2012, at Headquarters Station 50. Our goal is to provide a safe and challenging learning environment for firefighters. 

“Crunch Time” has attracted firefighters from Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, Montana, Alaska, Colorado, Florida & British Columbia. For more information email:  crunchtime@piercefire.org
