Gig Harbor Fire Crew Rescues Injured Dog

The dog was reportedly 200 feet down an embankment on the 3400 block of 9th Avenue Ct. NW.

Gig Harbor Fire reports on Twitter rescuers have recovered a dog that wound up 200 feet down an embankment on the 3400 block of 9th Avenue Ct. NW Saturday afternoon.

As it played out on social media, the rescue appeared to have taken less than an hour and the last update at about 1:15 p.m. indicated the dog and rescuers were back safe onboard a TFD boat headed for the Tides Tavern dock where its owner was waiting.

Battalion Chief Pete Kauppila reported the dog jumped over the railing, but it was unclear what prompted him to do so.

Pierce County Special Operations was also called to help.
