Gig Harbor Police Blotter: April 26th

Gig Harbor Police arrested a 20-year-old man for violating a no-contact order. They also responded to Halftime Sports Saloon after a 9mm Ruger pistol was found.

Runaway: On April 15, the police received a call regarding a runaway from a home in the 5100 block of Leon Lane. The mother reported that her 17-year-old daughter ran away two days prior and hadn't seen or heard from her. When police contacted the girl, she said she was in Tacoma and was okay. According to the report, there were no medical or suicidal concerns.

Court Order Violation/Traffic Collision/Injury/Arrest: Police responded to a car accident on April 14 at the intersection of 108th Street NW and Peacock Hill Avenue NW. Upon arrival, they found a 20-year-old man outside the car with a broken arm. Another 20-year-old man, who was driving the car, said he was traveling northbound in the 10700 block of Peacock Hill Avenue NW when another car crossed the center line. In order to avoid the car, he swerved, crashed into a ditch and struck a brick wall. A witness told police that a 19-year-old woman, who suffered a cut to her chin, walked from the scene. The officers located her on 108th Street and brought her back to get checked by the medical staff. The three were taken to for further care. During the investigation, records showed that she had a post domestic violence conviction, which prohibited the driver from contacting her. At the hospital, police arrested the driver for violating the no-contact order and issued an infraction for inattentive driving.

Traffic Offense/Arrest: At Borgen Boulevard and 51st Avenue on April 15, police cited a 69-year-old man for failing to transfer the title of the car within 45 days of purchase. He was also given a verbal warning for expired tabs.

DWLS: On April 15, police arrested a 48-year-old man in the 8500 block of Skansie Avenue for driving with a suspended license in the third degree. According to records, the driver had three prior arrests for driving while license suspended.

Shoplifting/Arrest: On April 15, police arrested a 51-year-old woman at at 5500 Olympic Dr. for shoplifting. They said an employee saw the woman tear open three packages of cosmetics. She placed two of them on the bottom of the shelf and the third in her pocket.

Vandalism: On April 15, police received a call for vandalism in the 5100 block of Borgen Boulevard. They said an unknown suspect(s) spray painted the building, retaining wall and the sidewalk near. 

Weapons Violation: On April 16, police responded to at 5114 Pt. Fosdick Dr. NW after workers found a weapon inside the bar. They found a 9mm Ruger pistol near a jacket that belonged to a 47-year-old man who was told to leave the bar earlier that night, according to police. The loaded pistol clip contained 10 rounds of 9mm FMJ ammunition.

DUI Arrest: On April 16, police arrested a 60-year-old man for DUI in the 3900 block of 56th Street NW. 

DUI Arrest: On April 16, police arrested a 64-year-old man for DUI in the 7600 block of Stinson Avenue. 

Motor Vehicle Theft: On April 20, police received a report of a missing vehicle from a neighborhood in the 4700 block of Pt. Fosdick Drive NW. The car was recovered by the Lakewood Police Department in Lakewood on April 23.

Safekeeping/Property: On April 21, police found a 52-year-old woman and a man in the parking lot at 5010 Pt. Fosdick Dr. Since they were both intoxicated, the officer offered to take the two home. Police booked the car keys into property for safekeeping and to be released upon demand.

DWLS Arrest: On April 21, police arrested a 19-year-old woman in the 3500 block of 56th Street NW for suspended license in the third degree for unpaid tickets. She was also issued an infraction for driving without any insurance.

Warrant/Arrest: On April 21, police arrested a 47-year-old man in the 2600 block of 14th Avenue NW. The man had an outstanding arrest warrant from the . He was booked into the Pierce County Jail.
