Gig Harbor Police Blotter: DUI Arrest, Vehicle Theft and More

Gig Harbor Police Department arrested a 50-year-old woman for driving under the influence of alcohol.

DUI Arrest: Gig Harbor Police arrested a 50-year-old white woman in the 3700 block of 56th Street NW on April 5. After the officer pulled her over for speeding 49 mph in a 30 mph speed zone, the driver admitted to consuming few drinks that night. She was arrested and released at the where her husband picked her up.

All Other Offenses: On April 5, police responded to an incident in the parking lot at 11400 51st Ave. A shopper was approaching her vehicle when she saw a woman open the driver side door to a burgundy Honda Element. Her door slammed into the fender of the victim's car, which left a minor dent to the body.

Motor Vehicle Theft: On April 4, police were dispatched to at 5900 Soundview Dr. When they arrived, the victim said unknown suspect(s) stole the his black 1993 Honda Civic from the parking lot.

Theft:Β A 90-year-old woman at Laurelwoods Apartments, 3444 Erickson St., reported that $100 went missing from her purse. She told police that she placed $800 cash into her purse Jan. 28. Three days later, she noticed her money was missing. According to the report, police interviewed the caregivers, who denied of taking any money from the purse and were upset of being accused of such an act. One caregiver said the victim is in good shape but can be forgetful and has displayed some short-term memory loss. The caregiver believed that the victim may have misplaced the money.Β
