Gig Harbor Police Blotter: Feb. 17-23

The Gig Harbor Police Department arrested a man suspected of trespassing and vehicle prowling. They also issued a citation for littering after a man was seen dumping items in a vacant lot.

Shoplifting/Misdemeanor/Arrest: On Feb. 17, the arrested a 36-year-old white woman for trespassing and theft. According to reports, the woman took deodorant, dental floss, toothpaste and bounce balls from at 5010 Pt. Fosdick Drive. Police noted that the woman was arrested few weeks ago for trespassing at the same QFC.

Littering/Dumping/Misdemeanor/Arrest: On Feb. 17, police arrested a 64-year-old white male for illegally dumping items in a vacant lot in the 5300 block of Bujacich Drive. According to a witness, the man dropped off items including a broken desk, a large cardboard box, a scrap piece of drywall, a metal pan, a metal skillet, a plastic bag full of bedding and a canvas bag. The suspect was cited for littering.

Trespassing/Misdemeanor/Arrest: On Feb. 17, police arrested a 30-year-old white male for trespassing. They found the suspect, who was described as a transient, at the Pioneer Square shopping center at 7109 Pioneer Way. According to the police report, the suspect had been trespassed from several business in the area and was released from the Pierce County Jail the day before on two other trespass charges. Police took him to the Pierce County Jail.

DWLS/Misdemeanor/Arrest: On Feb. 18 in the 3500 block of 56th Street NW, police arrested a 37-year-old white male driver for driving with a suspended license in the third degree for unpaid tickets. Police also issued a warning for his car's defective exhaust and white light to the rear. He was released at the scene.

Warrant/DWLS/Arrest: Police arrested a 38-year-old black male in the 5900 block of Sehmel Drive NW on Feb. 18. The driver had two outstanding warrants for his arrest and was also cited for driving with a suspended license in the third degree. He was taken to Kitsap County Jail.

Vehicle Prowl: On Feb. 19, a resident at an apartment complex in the 6100 of Soundview Drive reported an attempted vehicle prowl. Police noted that the suspect(s) pried the passenger door lock open, but the victim didn't think the suspect(s) succeeded because nothing was missing from the car.Β 

Vehicle Prowl: On Feb. 19, a woman parked her car in the parking lot at 11400 51st Ave. When she came back an hour later, her duffel bag with books and papers was missing from her car.

Warrant/Misdemeanor/Arrest: On Feb. 19, police found a car parked in at 3333 50th St. Ct. NW after park hours. They arrested one of the occupants, a 19-year-old white male, for his warrant out of the for possession of a dangerous weapon. The bail was set at $2,600. Police took him to the Pierce County Jail. The two were also given warnings for being in the park after hours.

Vehicle Prowl/Vandalism: On Feb. 20, a resident in the 4400 block of Harbor Country Drive contacted police after unknown suspect(s) broke into his truck and took his credit cards, checkbook and a GPS. The victim cancelled his account for the credit cards and checkbook.

Vandalism: On Feb. 21, police responded to a report of vandalism at at 3408 Hunt St. Police found that the suspect(s) ripped into several plastic tarps that were covering numerous pallets of wood stove pellets.

Theft/Trespassing/Arrest: On Feb. 21, police were dispatched to the 3900 block of Hunt Street after witnesses reported a possible prowler lurking around several vehicles. When police approached the man, who was crouched near one of the tires of a truck, the 39-year-old white male attempted to run away. According to the police report, the suspect kept struggling, and the officer had to spray 0.5 second burst of mace toward his head. The suspect was arrested and cited for third-degree theft and second-degree criminal trespass. Police later discovered that the suspect also had three felony warrants out of Benton County Superior Court.

DWLS/Arrest: On Feb. 21, police arrested a 49-year-old white male driver on the eastbound ramp of WA-16 off Olympic Drive. Records indicated that the suspect's driver's license was suspended in the third degree. The driver was cited for DWLS in the second degree.

Motor Vehicle Theft:Β Police responded to a residence in the 6400 block of 41st Avenue NW regarding a stolen vehicle. The car owner said sometime between 9 p.m. on Feb. 22 and 9 a.m. on Feb. 23, his gray 1987 Honda Accord went missing. The victim checked his Good-to-Go account and found that the car has not crossed the bridge.
