Gig Harbor Police Blotter: Jan. 11-18

The Gig Harbor Police Department arrested three teenagers on suspicion of consuming alcohol.

On Jan. 10, the pulled over a 48-year-old white male driver near the 10100 block of Burnham Drive for driving without a functioning rear license plate light. When the officer approached the suspect, the officer noticed a strong smell of alcohol coming from the driver. The driver also had blood-shot eyes. After taking the breathalyzer test and standardized field sobriety tests, the officer arrest him for driving under the influence of alcohol.

On Jan. 9, the police pulled over a car in the 4000 block of 55th Street Court NW after it drove through a red light. The 16-year-old white female driver from Tacoma was traveling with two other passengers: 17-year-old and 16-year-old girls from Tacoma. The officer said the girls smelled of alcohol, had slurred speech and had watery, blood-shot eyes. The police also found a half-empty can of Four Loko. All three admitted to consuming alcohol earlier in the evening. The driver was arrested for being under 21 and driving under the influence of alcohol. The two other passengers were arrested for minors in possession of alcohol.

Sometime between Jan. 10 and Jan. 13, someone vandalized four advertisement signs owned by Harbor Realty. The employee said the signs that were placed throughout Gig Harbor had been knocked over, and at least one was completely broken. The total damage is estimated to be about $600.
