Gig Harbor Police Blotter: June 12

The following arrest information was supplied by the Gig Harbor Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Warrant/Arrest: On June 1, police responded at the , 5006 Pt. Fosdick Dr. The store clerk contacted police after the suspect left a box of tools and his state ID as collateral for gasoline, which he did not have enough money at the time. The clerk asked the officials what she should do if the man did not return. When the officer ran his ID, records showed that the 50-year-old male suspect had several outstanding misdemeanor arrest warrants for thefts and DWLS. His drivers status was also DWLS in the first degree. When the driver returned to the gas station, police arrested and booked him into the Pierce County Jail.

Vehicle Prowl: A 70-year-old man parked his car at the Kimball Park and Ride at 6500 Kimball Dr. on May 29. When he returned 30 minutes later, his drivers side window was shattered. An unknown suspect(s) took his cell phone, stereo and flashlight.

Burglary/Possession of Stolen Property/Vandalism/Arrest: On May 31, police was dispatched to at 9010 Prentice Ave. for an audible burglary alarm around 2 a.m. When the officer arrived on scene, she saw two subjects run into the woods. Police noted that one of the exit door windows was broken out but did not find anything missing from the school.

Later that day, the principal contacted police after discovering that one of the classrooms had a shattered window and was missing approximately $12,000 worth of Apple iTouch and a laptop computer. Police also found a small amount of blood smeared on the metal storage case.Β 

According to "numerous" students who approached the school administrators, police were able to identify a 14-year-old male student as a suspect in the break-in.

The student first denied any connections to the crime, but when the officer asked him about a fresh cut on his finger, the student admitted to breaking into the school and stealing the Apple MacBook laptop and 31 iTouch earlier that morning. The student said he ran into the woods, walked up Peacock Hill to his home in Gig Harbor North.

The suspect also said he was responsible for the . He said he climbed onto the roof of the gym and used a metal bar to break the window. But after discovering the distance from the roof to the floor, he aborted the operation.

Police also confirmed that the suspect's 17-year-old sister was also at the scene. She admitted to following him to the school but denied taking part in burglary.Β 

Police arrested both for burglary in the second degree and possession of stolen property in the first degree attempt. The male suspect was also charged for the second degree burglary attempt from May 20.

Authorities later arrested a third suspect in connection to the burglary. The 14-year-old male student admitted to providing the lock code to the student who broke into the school. He also told police that several students at the school were using or selling drugs, which he had in his locker at the time. He was arrested for conspiracy to commit burglary in the second degree and also underage possession of controlled substance-marijuana. All stolen properties has been returned to the school.

DUI/Arrest: On June 3, police pulled over a 48-year-old female driver in the 9700 block of Peacock Hill Ave. NW. The driver's 12-year-old son was also in the passenger seat. The officer noticed watery bloodshot eyes and odor of intoxicants from the driver. After failing the field sobriety tests, the driver was arrested for DUI, and her son was released to her husband.

Liquor Law Violation/Possession of Another's Identification/Arrest: On June 5, police were parked in the parking lot when three women and a 43-year-old male exited from the bar. Police arrested two women, both 19, for minor in possession and possession of another's identification. Prosecutors are reviewing charges against the man for making false statements to law enforcement and providing liquor to minors.
