Gig Harbor Police Blotter: June 20

The following arrest information was supplied by the Gig Harbor Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Theft: On June 2, police responded to a theft in the 3208 block of 50th Street Court NW. They said four brass fire hose caps had been stolen from the building. The caps were valued at  $50 each.

Vehicle Prowl: Police responded to a vehicle prowl at , 6100 block of Soundview Dr. Sometime between June 2 to 3, an unknown suspect(s) attempted to steal the wheels from the victim's car. According to the police, the passenger front wheel was in place but was no longer held in place with lug nuts. Police found two jacks left at the scene.

Vandalism: On June 2, police responded to the Gig Harbor campus of , at 3993 Hunt St. for vandalism. They found damaged exterior walkway light posts and garbage at the scene. The clear plastic had been broken out of the three posts, and one had been broken off at the base and was on its side. They also found a parking lot sign that had been pulled out from the ground and tossed into the bushes.

Injured Deer: On June 4, police were dispatched to an injured young fawn on Vernhardson Street and 96th Avenue. The officer decided to put it down because the fawn's both rear legs were broken.

DUI/Arrest: On June 4, police pulled over a 47-year-old man in the 8100 block of Stinson Avenue. Police issued an infraction for DUI and for speeding 16 mph over the speed limit.

Intimidation/Stalking With a Weapon/Arrest: On June 6, police were dispatched to a call involving road rage/intimidation with a weapon around 7 p.m. in the intersection of Bujacich and Sehmel Drive. The driver, who contacted police, said she was driving down Skansie Avenue with her two young children. The car in front of her was driving 10 mph below speed limit so she passed the driver. Soon after, she said the car sped up and passed her. When they reached the intersection of Bujacich and Sehmel, the woman said the driver waved a black gun. Police later identified the 26-year-old male driver, who said he was upset when the woman passed him in a school zone. According to police, he initially denied he had a gun with him at the time, but he later admitted to brandishing it. Police arrested him for intimidation and stalking with a weapon. The gun was retrieved from his home for evidence. 

Vehicle Prowl: On June 9, police responded to a car prowl in the 4700 block of Pt. Fosdick Drive NW. The victim's vehicle was locked, but the suspect punched the passenger side door lock. The suspect took two pairs of sunglasses and a coin purse.

Traffic Collision/DUI/Hit and Run/Arrest: On June 12, police were dispatched to at 3222 56th St. NW in reference to a drunk driver.

Police said the 27-year-old male suspect took off after hitting an unattended parked car in the parking lot. The driver also drove through some landscape and a telephone box and collided with a city light pole.

When paramedics arrived on scene, the driver was breathing but was unresponsive. Police said he was not wearing a seatbelt, and his head struck the front windshield. When the suspect regained consciousness, he said he had three to four shots that night. The driver was taken to the hospital where police arrested him for DUI and unattended hit and run.
