Gig Harbor Police Blotter: Missing Tools at Salon, Overtime Moorage and Vehicle Prowl

The Gig Harbor Police Department responded to investigate a residential burglary and arrested three drivers for driving with a suspended license.

Fraud: A Gig Harbor resident in the 3200 of Grandview Street reported to police regarding several Visa credit card transactions that he didn't make during Feb. 6 to Feb. 17. The bill totaled to $987.23. The victim canceled his credit card account.

Fraud/Vehicle Prowl: On Feb. 22, the victim had parked her car at McCormick Forest Park on Bujacich Drive. When she returned, her rear passenger window was smashed and her purse, which was hidden under the passenger seat was gone. 

Vehicle prowl: On Feb. 22, after filling up the gas tank, the victim went and parked at the  at 10550 Harbor Hill Dr. An hour later, she returned to her car and noticed that her fuel indicator only showed a quarter tank of gas. Her daughter was also present and confirmed that her mother filled up the tank.

Burglary Attempt: On Feb. 24, police responded to  at 4818 Point Fosdick Dr. for an attempted burglary. The assistant manager told the officer that unknown suspect(s) pried a plate off the rear door. There were no known witness.

Vessel Impound: On Feb. 24, a  volunteer impounded a boat to the City Dock at 3201 Harborview Dr. for violation of the overtime moorage ordinance. According to the reports, the vessel had been moored at the dock for 72 hours at the time of the warning and up to 96 hours at the time of impoundment. The owner of the boat contacted police to reclaim the vessel the following day and was issued a notice of infraction for overtime moorage.

Citizen Assist: On Feb. 24, police responded to  at 8809 North Harborview Dr. for a report of theft. When he arrived, he was told that a stylist's tools and supplies were missing from her work station. After investigating, the officer learned that the victim was intending to break her lease without giving the proper 30-day notice to the owner. So the salon owner took her items until the victim paid her lease fee for March. The officer contacted the owner to have the tools returned and take care of the matter through civil courts if necessary.

Theft: On Feb. 26, police responded to  at 2905 Harborview Dr. to investigate its missing business signs. The owner said someone either stole or hid the two sandwich-board signs, which had blue and white lettering with The Green Turtle logo. The signs were valued at $400.

Residential Burglary/Theft: On Feb. 26, police investigated a burglary at a model home for a newly constructed housing development in the 6400 block of Hunt Street. The thief only took a computer in the back room. Police was unable to find out how the suspect(s) entered the house. The victim said the computer was valued at $600.

DWLS/Arrest: On Feb. 27, police pulled over a 52-year-old white male driver in the 4500 block of Point Fosdick Drive for driving with a suspended license in the 3rd degree. The driver was released at the scene.

Traffic Offense/DWLS/Arrest: On Feb. 27, police pulled over a 64-year-old white male on SR 16 eastbound near Olympic Drive. The driver was cited for driving with a suspended license in the 3rd degree and failure to have a required interlock device in the car.

Fail to Transfer Vehicle Title Within 45 Days/Arrest: Police pulled over a 44-year-old white male driver in the 4000 block of Harborview Drive on March 2 for not having an operable taillight. After further investigation, the man was cited for failing to transfer the vehicle title within 45 days.

Found Property: On March 2, police responded to a found property at the  at 5601 Soundview Dr. They took in a gun magazine that contained 10, 45-cal bullets that were found on Sunday, Feb. 27.

DWLS/Arrest: On March 2, police pulled over a 19-year-old white male driver for driving at 40 mph in a posted 30 mph speed zone in the  parking lot at 6200 38th Ave. The driver was cited for driving while license suspended and an infraction for not having a proof of insurance.

Residential Burglary/Felony: On March 3, a real estate agent contacted police to report a burglary in the 3800 block of Harborview Drive. He told police that sometime between Feb. 28 to March 2, suspect(s) broke in and stole the washer and dryer, dishwasher, the back door, doorknob and a real estate lock box from the home. They also found the hot water tank, which the thief also attempted to steal, sitting outside the front door. The police discovered that the breaker box had been turned off, and a window was removed from the frame in the basement.
