Gig Harbor Police Log: Fire Set to Port-a-Potty, Water Tower Vandalized

Vandalism: On April 18, an unknown suspect(s) cut some wires from the bottom of the fence to access the North Water Tower area in the 11900 block of 43rd Avenue NW. The suspect damaged the side of the water tower by scratching a large peace symbol into the paint. Police also found broken beer bottles near the scene.

Theft: On April 18, an unknown suspect(s) stole three packages after they were left on the front step of a home in the 5400 block of 38th Avenue NW.  The stolen items included a Communication Satellite Dish, some clothes and a pair of boots.

DUI/Arrest: On April 19, police arrested a 49-year-old man in the 4800 block of Pt. Fosdcik Drive for DUI.

Vandalism: Sometime between April 20 and 21, an unknown suspect(s) vandalized a wall at Gig Harbor High School. Police found some graffiti that started at the front gym wall near the main entrance and ran along the east side of the school toward the pool.

Burglary: On April 21, an unknown suspect(s) broken into a garage in the 9600 block of Burnham Drive NW and stole some electrical supplies. The victim said the property was vacant and on the market. Since this was the third burglary at the same location in several months, the victim had a surveillance camera, which showed two suspects stealing $200 worth of aluminum wire scraps.

Shoplifting/Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance/Arrest: On April 22, a 19-year-old woman was caught leaving Kohl's with $521 worth of items in her body and purse. Police found two pairs of pants under her jeans and some jewelry, tops and a handbag on the woman. Police also found drug paraphernalia and marijuana inside her purse. She was arrested for third-degree theft and unlawful possession of controlled substance.

Arson: On April 23, a port-a-potty was completely destroyed after an unknown suspect(s) lit it on fire at a construction site in the 5000 block of Baltic Street.

Vehicle Prowl: On April 23, an unknown suspect(s) broke out the passenger side window of a car at the Cushman Trailhead and stole the victim's wallet from the glove box.
