Gig Harbor High Principal on Administrative Leave After DUI Arrest

Principal Ted Strong of Gig Harbor High School was arrested Tuesday morning.

The has placed principal Ted Strong on administrative leave, according to Superintendent Terry Bouck.

The decision comes after Strong’s arrest on Tuesday in connection to an alleged hit-and-run collision while driving under the influence of alcohol, reported The Peninsula Gateway.

The District has released a statement on Wednesday indicating that Strong had requested and was granted time off for Monday and Tuesday.

“The alleged incident was not school related nor was he on school time when the event occurred,” Bouck wrote in an email newsletter sent out to parents and staff.

In the meantime, Bouck has named Grant Hosford as acting principal at the high school.

“Grant is an experienced principal and has served our District in the past at Peninsula High School.  He was also instrumental in implementing the school improvement process in the Peninsula School District,” Bouck said. “We are assessing the situation and will provide updates when appropriate.”
