POLL: Gig Harbor to Vote on EMS Levy Today

The mail-in ballots are due by 8 p.m. tonight.

Gig Harbor residents will vote on the Fire Protection District No. 5 Emergency Medical Services levy today.

The special election will be mail-in only. Voters can also use deposit boxes, which will close at 8 p.m. on Tuesday.

According to , the EMS levy would cover the costs for Basic and Advanced Life Support, Medic One units, personnel—including paramedics, training, equipment, facilities and 911 emergency response. The measure also covers a patient’s emergency service out-of-pocket costs for local residents who are not reimbursed by their insurance.

Gig Harbor Fire will need a "super majority" of 60 percent to adopt the levy.

The will also be set up as one of the voting centers for voter registration, accessible voting equipment and assistance from staff. Hours: 7 a.m. - 8 p.m.

I have seen orange flags (like the kind you use on the boat with a water skier) used at crosswalksRead More in Redmond. Perhaps putting a PVC pipe in the ground on either side of the road or attached to the nearby sign posts with a few flags inside for you to hold out/carry to the other side when you're crossing would be helpful?
