UPDATE: Authorities Confirm Kayaker Rescued Near Key Peninsula Dies

A man in his late 20's who was taken to St. Anthony Hospital in Gig Harbor died around 4 a.m., Tuesday, Pierce County Sheriff's Department spokesman Ed Troyer said.

UPDATE: 11:14 a.m. on March 20, 2013

The News Tribune has reported that the kayaker who died on Tuesday was 29-year-old Matthew Grobins of Lakebay.
