“My wife remembers hearing a louder than normal sound of a car coming up from behind her and then being hit on her left side,” the husband told Gig Harbor Patch on Friday. “While she doesn’t remember the impact of hitting the ground, she did look to see the SUV speeding away with no attempt to stop.

He also said another resident stopped by the site and told a similar story of an erratic driver in a large white SUV further south of the accident.

The cyclist suffered bruises and cuts, and she is now recovering at home.

“That lack of character and humanity by another local resident seems to be adding mental pain to the physical side of things for her at this point,” the husband said. “(It’s) sad to know that someone could do this and not even attempt to stop and help.”
