Man Found Unresponsive in His Car

The Washington State Patrol responded to a call regarding a man who was slumped over in his car on SR 16. The man was later pronounced dead.

A Tacoma man was found unresponsive in his car that was parked on the side of eastbound SR 16 at Olympic Drive earlier today.

Just after noon, the Washington State Patrol received a report of a vehicle parked on the right shoulder with the driver slumped over the steering wheel, according to the agency.

Troopers and medical personnel responded to the scene and found 62-year-old George Dauria unresponsive in the vehicle, officials said.

They transported Dauria to St. Josephs Hospital where he was pronounced dead. 

The incident did not involve any collisions, and officials are treating the case as a medical incident. They said Dauria's cause of death will be determined by the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office.
