Missing Person Last Seen in Gig Harbor Featured on Crime Stoppers "Cold Cases" Website

Michelle Maitland was last seen by her ex-boyfriend in Gig Harbor more than 15 years ago.

Crime Stoppers of Tacoma/Pierce County, a nonprofit organization that assists local law enforcements in solving crimes and finding fugitives, recently updated its website with several unsolved cases.

According to the website, the Pierce County Sheriff's detectives need your help to locate a missing woman, feared to be the victim of foul play. Michelle Renee Maitland has been missing under suspicious circumstances since September 1996.

Maitland's family reported her missing on Sept. 12, 1996, after they had not seen or heard from her for several days. Maitland was last seen by her ex-boyfriend in the 13100 block of 115th Street Court in the Gig Harbor area in the days before she was reported missing. Maitland's car was later found abandoned at the west end of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge in a gravel parking lot.

At the time of her disappearance Maitland was a white female, 29 years old, 5'6” tall, 130 lbs., with green eyes and brown hair. She was living in Olympia and was known to use the nickname "Chelley".  Maitland is the mother of a young child, who she has not contacted since her disappearance.

Detectives are looking for any information regarding Michelle Maitland’s disappearance and/or her whereabouts.
