Westbound SR 16 Opens After Multi-Car Crash

A three-vehicle crash temporarily closed all westbound lanes of State Route 16 in Gig Harbor on Thursday around 1:45 p.m.

UPDATE: 2:48 p.m.
All lanes on westbound SR 16 are now open. Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One said crews transported two people to the hospitals, both with non-life threatening injuries.

UPDATE: 2:16 p.m.
WSP Trooper Guy Gill tweeted: The right lane (Lane1) is still blocked for fluid debris in the lane. Two lanes are currently open.

UPDATE: 2:10 p.m.
Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One tweeted that all lanes of westbound SR16 are now open.

UPDATE: 2:02 p.m.
The fire department said one westbound lane is now open.

UPDATE: 1:57 p.m.

WSP Trooper Guy Gill tweeted that at least one tow truck is on scene. Three vehicles involved. At this time injuries do NOT appear to be life-threatening. Should have a lane or lanes open soon.

Traffic on westbound SR 16 is backed up near the Tacoma Narrows Bridge.

The Washington State Department of Transportation reported that a 5-car crash is currently blocking all lanes westbound SR 16 near Olympic Drive.

The incident happened around 1:45 p.m. on Thursday, June 20.

Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One and the State Patrol are on the scene.

The extent of injuries from the crash is unknown.
