Update: 4:10 p.m.: Washington State Patrol Trooper Julie Judson confirmed that Wednesday's accident occurred at about 7:55 p.m.

Two pedestrians, one identified as 16-year-old Justin Relethford by the King County Medical Examiner's Office (see 3:45 p.m. update below), were reportedly walking westbound on the westbound shoulder of State Route 410 near Warner when a vehicle that was also headed westbound veered toward them and struck Relethford.

The other pedestrian was unharmed. Detectives believe both Relethford and his companion were within the shoulder boundary when the vehicle struck him, but the investigation remains ongoing, and witnesses to the accident are being sought.

If you saw what happened, Washington State Patrol investigators ask you to contact Det. Wilcoxon at 425-401-7746.

Dear Enumclaw Patch - I know that this is your #1 top story of 2012 so is there any way to get an update with details and information from neutral 3rd parties? Otherwise this thread will continue going with back and forth anecdotal accusations. I'd love to know more specifics that are not hearsay!

That's my intent, CoreyAnn, and thanks for your note. The upcoming holiday week might make it a little difficult to reach folks but I do aim to follow up as soon as I can.
