TUESDAY: Gig Harbor National Night Out

Tuesday's Gig Harbor National Night Out will feature safety demonstrations, activities and live entertainment for the Gig Harbor community. The free event is open to all families.

The City of Gig Harbor will be hosting the 29th annual National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 7.

The free community event begins at 5 p.m. at the Green at the Gig Harbor Civic Center (City Hall) located at 3510 Grandview St.

Gig Harbor Police Chief Mike Davis will emcee the event with comedian Cris Larsen.

The purpose of the event is to promote neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships in its mission for a safer nation.

This event, presented by the , is sponsored by , , Wilco Farm Stores, The Jaycox Fund and the Gig Harbor Police Department.

The celebration includes free barbecue with hot dogs, sodas, popcorn and more.

Booths and displays include:

  • City of Gig Harbor Police Display
  • Washington’s Most Wanted/Pierce-Tacoma Crime Stopper
  • Neighborhood Watch Program
  • Washington State Patrol
  • Citizens Offering Police Support (COPS)
  • U.S. Marine Corps mini boot camp for kids
  • K9 demonstrations
  • Face painting
  • Dunk Tank
  • will also be there to collect donations to .

At 8:15 p.m., local band Third In Line will take the stage, and the event wraps up at 10 p.m.

Parking: Parking will be left up to the general public. There will be no main street closures during the event. However, the west entrance to City Hall parking lot (skate park side) will be closed to vehicle traffic, as well as the east exit (first stop sign) leading out of City Hall will also be closed.
