UPDATE: 8:14 p.m., 8/11/2012

Authorities are now saying that three people were injured in today's shooting at Peninsula Market in Wauna.

According to The Seattle Times, Pierce County Sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyer says the 20-year-old woman who opened fire didn't have any connection to the victims, just that she didn't like them:

One of the victims was in serious condition at Tacoma General Hospital with a gunshot wound to the midsection, Troyer said. Another man, shot in the leg, also was taken to Tacoma General. A third man, who appeared to have been grazed by a ricocheting bullet, received treatment at a medical clinic.

The Times also spoke to Greg and Maureen Sikora, a Key Peninsula couple who were nearby when they heard the shots. Maureen Sikora said she sat on the woman and talked to her, trying to keep her calm.

"The woman said she had been molested, and she just wanted to kill men and kill herself, but that she had run out of bullets," Maureen Sikora said.

"I asked her if she wanted to buy a ticket, she was very calm and she said no not today and she went into the store," said Ensor.

She says moments later, that woman's demeanor completely changed.

"She was in there screaming and hollering ... I couldn't hear what she was saying ... but the next thing I knew she threw her arms up, and pop, pop, pop and the next thing I know there was two men down," said Ensor.

The woman fired number of shots, two striking two people. A 76-year-old man was shot in the leg, and a man in his 30s was shot in the abdomen.

I'll be honest. If I had my daughter with me, fatherly instincts would probably kick in and I'd take down the woman to save my kid and anyone next to her.

I know what you mean Brent....Once when I found myself in a domestic dispute between my friend and her husband, I grabbed my daughter, who I think was about one and a half, and ran with her into another room....instinct. My friend wouldn't talk to me for a month because I didn't step between them to stop the fight..... now that I think about it she isn't a friend any longer, lol. But I digress....I am shocked at the amount of violence of late....is it the weather or a paradigm shift??

I agree with Chris. I think my first instinct if my kids were with me would be to get them away or shield them somehow. If I were alone, I think I would be more likely to intervene with an assailant. But it's really hard to know how you would really react in any given situation. Many factors would come into play.

Grab the kids and get out ! Alone..? Grab someone else's kids and get out !

Thanks, Chris. Absolutely, as parents, our instincts are centered around the kids. You had to do what you needed to do. As far as the violence, I don't know. Maybe it is the weather. Shouldn't stuff like this be happening November-February?
