Commuters from Gig Harbor might have caught a glimpse of extreme luck on Interstate 5 this morning.

Shortly before 7:30 a.m., a 37-year-old Puyallup man escaped with mere scrapes and scratches after a trailer hitch smashed through his windshield near the Tacoma Dome.

The hitch, according to the Washington State Patrol, was lying on the roadway and got kicked up by a vehicle traveling in front of the truck.

Count your lucky stars, indeed, young man.
