Meeting for Major Road Construction to Gig Harbor West

The City of Gig Harbor will be undertaking a major road construction project beginning spring of 2012 to replace a section of Point Fosdick Drive from Olympic to 56th and 56th Street from Point Fosdick to Olympic Drive.  The project is expected to begin in the first quarter and continue into summer 2013.

The current two-lane roadway will be reconstructed to two through lanes with a designated center turn lane.  It will also include new sidewalks on each side with curb and gutter, planter strips, underground storm drainage, new decorative street lighting and the overhead utilities (power, telephone and cable) to be relocated underground.

The estimated cost for this project is 4.2 million dollars.  The funding for this project is predominately from a City secured 2.6 million state grant through the Transportation Improvement Board (TIB), City traffic impact fees and a developer contribution.
