 Gig Harbor  See map

Members of the Gig Harbor Police Marine Patrol will be available on Saturday, April 21, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to provide free safety inspections for all boats.

This event is to help the boating public make sure that they have the proper safety equipment for their boats. West Marine will be on hand to help you update your outdated equipment.

Officers will also be able to answer questions about the Mandatory Boater Education Card.

This year, if you are 40 years or younger you are required to have a boater education card.

If your boat is on a trailer, just bring it to the between 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.  A marine officer will complete a Boat Safety Inspection form with you and make sure that you have all the required equipment.

If your boat is moored at one of the local marinas, just call at 253-250-1781, and the police department will send an officer to your boat to complete the Boat Safety Inspection form with you at the dock.

Even if you come over to Gig Harbor for the day and want us to complete a Boating Safety Inspection form on your boat, just call at 253-250-1781, and the police department will send an officer to you.

Things that you will need: Identification, boat documents and all safety equipment that you would need if you were going out on the water.

If you have any questions contact GHPD Officer Mike Allen at 253-853-2428.
