Gig Harbor's Nathan Schlicher Will Replace Derek Kilmer in State Legislature

The governing boards for Pierce County and Kitsap County voted to appoint the emergency room doctor to the 26th Legislative District Senate seat.

The Kitsap Sun is reporting that the Pierce County Council and Kitsap County Commision voted to appoint Gig Harbor's Nathan Schlicher to the 26th Legislative District Senate seat, which became vacant when Derek Kilmer ran and won a seat in Congress.

Schlicher, who was recommended to fill the vacancy by a 26th District Democratic committee last month, will serve out the rest of the year. In November, voters will decide who will serve the final year of Kilmer's term.
