Letter to the Editor: Political Advertisements on Patch

A Gig Harbor Patch reader recently emailed her concerns regarding political advertisements on Patch.

With some key races and issues up for election this November, one Patch reader emailed us regarding political advertisements on Gig Harbor Patch.

She said:

I love opening the Patch to see what's going on around Gig Harbor. I am, however, disappointed to see the constant barrage of Obama ads...not every one is a fan. I hope that you will use discretion in this area.

My response:

Patch's local editors work independently of any advertiser influence. Just as our blogging platform welcomes wide-ranging perspectives on a variety of topics, Patch's ad sales team welcomes queries from all candidates and stakeholders -- regardless of party affiliation -- in the 2012 elections.

As we move into election season this fall, feel free to email me questions at akiko.oda@patch.com. For example, if you'd like to know how we manage election coverage or even issues you'd like us to ask our local candidates. We will post our answers right here on Gig Harbor Patch.

Thank you, Akiko! Just wondering if there was some other reason for it that I didn't see. :)

No problem. Welcome Brent. By the way, I'm a graphic artist, have any need for ad design?
