Letter to the Editor: 'Preserve Our Parks' to Endorse Current PenMet Parks Commissioner

The Preserve Our Parks organization announces its decision to endorse PenMet Parks Commissioner candidate and incumbent Curtis Hancock for the upcoming election.

Editor's note: The following endorsement notice was sent from Chairwoman Linda Gough on behalf of Preserve Our Parks.

PRESERVE OUR PARKS (POP) is proud to endorse current board President Curtis Hancock in is re-election to the . Curtis has been an avid supporter of and POP's efforts to keep our park open. Curtis has stated both publicly and privately that should the State have to close Kopachuck, he would make every effort to work to assume the operation of Kopachuck through a transfer or any other workable solution.

Knowing that there is a potential safety net in hard economic times has provided a sense of security for our community that Kopachuck may not have to endure locked gates.

It is important to note that Curtis Hancock, has an impressive resume that illustrates  his passion for parks and community. In partnership with others he helped form PenMet Parks in 2004 and through leadership and insight has had an integral part in its development from inception to today. His expertise in Capital and Long Range Planning, Metro Parks Project Management, and his entrepreneurial philosophy have been crucial in guiding PenMet through its initial development to the visionary and fiscally responsible district of 2011.

I have heard Curtis say that it is his "mission to be part of molding PenMet into an entrepreneurial and business-like organization so that future generations may enjoy parks and recreation without the worry of impending closures and cutbacks."
