Should Gig Harbor Allow Residents To Reserve City Ballfields?

The city will consider a pilot project that allows reservations at Crescent Creek Park.

On Monday, the Gig Harbor City Council will get its first look at a pilot program that will allow people to reserve ballfields at Crescent Creek Park.

The program wouldn't involve charging a fee, but it would give staff a sense of whether reservations could work at other city parks.

The policies regarding reservations under the plan include:

  • First come, first serve
  • 1 1/2 hour time blocks; max of three per day; no more than two consecutive days
  • Field availability: Monday through Friday, noon to dusk; Saturday, 8 a.m. to dusk
If the Gig Harbor City Council approves the pilot program, staff would implement it and return next year with results.

So we ask you, Patch users, should the City of Gig Harbor allow for reservations at city ballfields? What are the negatives and the positives? Tell us in the comments below.
