UPDATE: Election Results

Votes to reject the Proposition 1 for Pierce Transit and the approval for the Peninsula School District's $78 million dollar bond are still leading in the second round of updates.

A little after 4 p.m. on Wednesday, the Pierce County Auditor's Office released its second update from the Feb. 8 special election.

Votes to reject the - a proposal to increase taxes to maintain bus and transit service for Pierce Transit -  are still leading with 73,123 votes or 54 percent.

Meanwhile, the votes to approve the 's are leading with a total of 11,563 votes or 57 percent. In order to validate the vote, 60 percent of the voters must approve the measure.

The proposed merger of the Lakewood and University Place Fire Departments was passing with 82 percent of the vote.

The next update is scheduled for 4 p.m., Thursday.
