Warren Drive to Close for 30 Days

Warren Drive NW will be closed for vehicle and pedestrian traffic while Pierce County replaces a broken culvert on Warren Drive NW starting Aug. 28.

(The following information was issued by Pierce County.)

Drivers in the Gig Harbor area will experience a 30 day road closure on Warren Drive at the crossing of Warren Creek, just south of 36th Street NW. The closure is expected to begin Aug. 28.

This closure will affect all vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Drivers will detour north of the project by using 92nd Avenue NW. Access to the south of the project will be via Warren Drive NW. Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes and allow extra travel time.

The culverts under Warren Drive NW failed and will be replaced with a large structure, which will have the added benefit of allowing fish and wildlife to move upstream beyond Warren Drive NW.

Postcard notification will be mailed to area residents and businesses at least seven days prior to the closure. If you wish to receive mailed notice of the closure, please contact the Public Works and Utilities at 253-798-2725, or email pcwater@co.pierce.wa.us. Project updates will be posted atΒ www.piercecountywa.org/warrencreek.

This project is funded by the Surface Water Management Service Charge paid by property owners in unincorporated Pierce County. Once the failed culverts are replaced, high quality upstream habitat will be connected with the downstream portion of Warren Creek. The new structure will also reduce stream channel erosion during high flows that result from the restricted channel.
