What's Open and Closed Today

City of Gig Harbor:

The and the are operating with limited staff today. Court hearings have been canceled. The court will be open for all other business, according to its website.

Pierce County:

Pierce County government offices will be closed due to hazardous driving conditions resulting from the snowstorm. Only public safety and other designated essential staff should report to work.

Gig Harbor Police Department:

The is open and operation ready for any 911 emergencies in its response area.

Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One:

is fully staffed and operation ready for any 911 emergencies in its response area.

The fire department released the following announcement:

Please remember to only drive if you absolutely have to. If you must drive, pack extra clothing and food in case you are stranded. In the event of a power outage, do not use generators or any fueled burning appliances in your home as they produce carbon monoxide and can cause poisoning and death. In addition, only use flashlights as a light source.

If you are driving, make sure to check the road conditions with the WSDOT traffic cameras.

All school activities, building use and athletic events on Jan. 18 are canceled. There will also be no out of district transportation.

Tacoma Community College:

is closed. Day and evening classes are canceled at all TCC locations, including the Gig Harbor campus.

Gig Harbor Chamber of Commerce:

The office will be closed.

Gig Harbor Family YMCA:

All YMCA's in Pierce and Kitsap Counties, including the , are operating on modified schedules today, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. All youth and adult programs and classes are canceled.

Before and after school YMCA Child Care sites operate in line with school districts, so will be closed today.

The Pierce County Library System, including the and branches, is closed. People may access the Library’s online library at www.piercecountylibrary.org and download audiobooks and e-books, as well as songs, for free with Pierce County Library cards.
