Defining Moment For The Future of Gig Harbor

Monday, Oct. 14; 5:30pm Residents and non residents get 3 minutes to make a public comment, before the GH City Council,  on the proposed new zoning for the waterside of Harborview Dr.
This proposed zoning would allow 27' high, 2 story, flat roof buildings to create a corridor of overscale commercial buildings on the waterside of Harborview Dr., from Rosedale to past The Green Turtle.  Once 2 story buildings are allowed anywhere on the waterside of Harborview, they will grow to all commercial areas and folks on the uphill side of Harborview will have to have 3 stories, at least, to see the view over the 2 story buildings. (2 story, flat roof buildings on the uphill side of Harborview passed the City Council on Sept.9) Massive, overscale buildings don't belong in Gig Harbor.
The proposed new zoning means that instead of houses sitting back from the sidewalk and low, so you have a view of the harbor, houses will now have to sit 12' from the property line, while being measured 18' high from the property line, close to the sidewalk.  Take a look at the photos...where did the view go???
1,493 petitions to the city for NO changes anywhere on Harborview Drive.  Will the GH City Council overturn the will of the people???
Residents of Gig Harbor got this proposed amendment reopened for public comment and it will be all of Gig Harbor who tells the City Council to throw this amendment into the harbor and leave it there, once and for all.
