The Great Pumpkin Pie Marathon

The pumpkin pie marathon at Costco.

Well, now that we are in the throes of Thanksgiving Week, we headed up to Costco to find our prized pumpkin pie. Costco is always the best place for the best deal on pumpkin pie, and especially one that is 14 inches and full of pumpkin-y goodness. The pies sell for $5.99. Anywhere else, that size would go for at least $20.

A few years ago, Costco had put bad ingredients like partially hydgrogenated oil in the crust, but thankfully, because so many people are aware of nutrition, they decided to stop doing that. I have to say the pies taste so much better lately. What I tend to do (and I don't know if it's a good habit) is have pumpkin pie for breakfast. True, it has sugar in it, but it also has pumpkin and eggs. I justify the nutritional benefits that way! And, it's only during this time of year that I indulge in it.

I found out through an article on the Seattle Times that Costco makes at least one million pumpkin pies during this season. Amazing!! Well, I'm grateful they go through all that hard work so that we don't have to! (at least when it comes to that item) Here's the link where they explain the mechanics of Costco's pumpkin pie operation:
