Goodman Middle School Principal Gets Pink Mohawk

To celebrate his students' feat of collecting six truckloads of canned food and toys for the FISH Food Bank, Goodman Middle School Principal Scott McDaniel had his head shaved.

Giggles and cheers filled the gym Friday morning as students got what they were promised: a pink mohawk and a Fu Manchu mustache for Principal Scott McDaniel.

If the kids collected two truckloads of items, Goodman's Assistant Principal Rhonda Taylor would dress up as a clown for the day. If they filled four trucks, McDaniel offered to shave his head and mustache.

The students ended up donating six truckloads of goods, which meant they got both administrators to pay off their promises.

"I'm very pleased with our students," McDaniel said. "They do an incredible job, and I'm very impressed with their focus on the community and trying to help our neighbors out, especially over the holidays."

At the school assembly on Friday, McDaniel got a little help from one of his teachers.

"I told (Principal McDaniel) it would be more fun if I did it than if he had a barber come in," said Charles Hall, who teaches 7th grade social studies.

"It's definitely fun. I may have to keep this all over winter break," McDaniel said of his new hairdo.

To top it off, Hall painted the mohawk and mustache with some pink hair spray.

"I think it's a good thing I'm his teacher, not his barber," joked Hall. "I didn't even get a tip!"
