Harbor Ridge Students At 'We Day' Celebration Today in Seattle

he students - who formed a club called "Got Hope" to support local and global initiatives for We Day - are participating in today's event, which is expected to draw some 15,000 students to Seattle's KeyArena.

Today, Seattle is the epicenter of a youth movement to make the world a better place.

Among the wave of 15,000 students from across the state who are attending the first "We Day" celebration in the United States, students at Harbor Ridge Middle School in Gig Harbor have their own reason to boast.

They're joining students from 400 schools across the state, none of whom bought their tickets to the star-studded event. (Click here to see the lineup of speakers, including Jennifer Hudson, Magic Johnson and the Seattle Seahawks' Russell Wilson)

They had to earn their admission to We Day through projects and volunteer efforts that improved communities on a local and global level.

They collected pennies and other loose change in support of Free The Children’s Clean Water Initiative.

To serve their local community, students are raising money to help construct an all-abilities accessible play environment in their nearby park, The Gig Harbor Maritime PlayZone.
