PTAs Nationwide Give Sandy Hook Students a Winter Wonderland

Sending homemade snowflakes is a meaningful way to help Newtown, CT.

The Connecticut and Sandy Hook PTSA organizations have created a special way that PTA leaders, school employees and families can show their support for Sandy Hook Elementary School.

Local PTAs and schools across the country are encouraged to send paper snowflakes for the school via the Connecticut PTSA to lift the spirits of the community, calling it “Let’s Give Sandy Hook School a Winter Wonderland”.

"Like our children, no two snowflakes are alike," said a post on the National PTA's Facebook page. "We invite you to create snowflakes to decorate Sandy Hook School’s new home. Be creative! All colors and designs are welcome. We know that children will enjoy creating art that can adorn the walls of SHS’s new elementary school."

Gig Harborites can join in, too. Mail snowflakes to the address below by Jan. 12, 2013:

Patch user Kerry McCann in New Jersey said she grew up in the surrounding community of Newtown, CT and still has close contact with many friends there.

"I know I feel helpless in determining what I can do to help but I came across this today and wanted to share with my New Jersey community because I know how well we come together in times of crisis as well," she said.
