Boys Lacrosse: Harbor Fire Overpowered by Wenatchee
Wenatchee's Parks nets 6 to power the Panthers past Gig Harbor for state lacrosse quarterfinal berth.
WENATCHEE – Mitchell Parks scored 6 goals, all in the first half, to lead Wenatchee into the state lacrosse quarterfinals with a 19 – 4 opening round playoff win against Gig Harbor, Saturday at Wenatchee Valley College. With the win, Wenatchee faces Garfield in its quarterfinal matchup Saturday, May 21.
A total of 10 Wenatchee players scored in the win with Parks scoring 3 of his 6 goals on the night in the first quarter to build a 4 – 0 lead. In the second, Parks delivered his second 3 goals of the night as Wenatchee netted 6 goals to take a 10 – 2 advantage into the intermission. Wenatchee blanked Gig Harbor 4 – 0 in the third and added 5 goals in fourth to seal the win.
Parks contributed 10 ground balls to lead the defense, while Connor Dahl netted 4 goals and grabbed 6 ground balls and Thomas Bass and Kelly Smith combined for 11 saves. Cody Olson led Gig Harbor with a hat trick and Lucas Batanian had 14 saves in goal.

Gig Harbor, which finished the season at 7-7-0, lost two of its last three games of the regular season. Gig Harbor beat Port Angeles 12 – 4 on May 4 then dropped its May 6 game to Highline 16 – 9 and May 10 season finale to Klahowya 12 – 8.
As this year’s torch-bearer for Eastern Washington high schools, Wenatchee won seven straight games to finish the season by a combined score of 93 – 23 including a 19 – 2 defeat of Ballard on April 30 and 13 – 4 defeat of Three Rivers on May 4.
