Boys Soccer: Tides Open Season With 6-0 Win

Victor Akoi scores two goalsas Gig Harbor romps to a 6-0 win over Mt. Tahoma.

The boys soccer team kicked off the season in fashion, posting a 6-0 victory over visiting Mount Tahoma on Wednesday night.

Victor Akoi scored twice to lead the Tides in his 2011 debut after an injury-ravaged 2010. Robby Ubben, Kevin Martin, Willie O'Malley and Braden Stepp also scored for Gig Harbor.

The Tides (1-0-0) benefitted from a huge disparity in shots on goal, putting the ball on target 21 times, compared to just one shot on goal for Mount Tahoma.

The Tides play next at Olympia on Friday at 7 p.m.
